Today’s breakfast program was a very productive outing. We made new friends, while delivering backpacks to ok existing ones. It’s very apparent that the numbers are slowly increasing, because the faces are constantly changing. Do we shall see in the very near future how rapid the increase in new faces will start looking. As we served breakfast today we were able to successfully deliver backpacks filled with some snacks and supplies, all of which are refillable. The frequency of the refills will be determined by the numbers of those we serve. As we continue to enroll individuals into our MLK FAMILY & FRIENDS PROGRAM, we are slowly but steadily reaching our max membership number. Regardless, we will always help anyone we encounter, who chooses to accept our services, but there are times when we have extra things and those will go to F&F members first, and then to anyone who may want the extra items. In addition to the backpacks, we introduced our new breakfast option, turkey sausage and egg breakfast wraps. We will have to wait til Saturday to get the verdict, but we will certainly take any feedback into account. All in all it was a good day. We will see y’all this Saturday in the streets of Vallejo, as we will be out doing our SACK LUNCH PROGRAM! Til then, have a great week!!

It’s been a minute, but we are finally getting back on track. On Saturday 07/25/2020 we were finally able to start rolling out the MLK FAMILY & FRIENDS PROGRAM, as we were and to some degree are recovering from the immediate effects of the health crisis. We were able to distribute backpacks filled with basic needs items, including toiletries, snacks, information, a T-shirt, and sliders. We received our shipment of BOMBAS Socks, after we were done, so we will be distributing 2 pairs of socks this Tuesday to those who received backpacks, in addition to the pair of socks that will go to everyone we interact with. We were certainly encouraged by the responses to the backpacks, and the ensuing program. As always we will keep you posted as to how things are progressing, but in the meantime we will be focused on trying our best to help maintain public health, by implementing social distancing and passing out mask as we operate. Till next time, stay safe, stay vigilant, and stay engaged!
Follow us on Facebook and Instagram Today was ultimately a very rough day. We went out into the streets of Vallejo with hot oatmeal breakfasts, fruit, boiled eggs, granola bars, and graham crackers. It was such a wonderful day of service, and then it took a sad turn. After we noticed a cat laying in the street that had obviously been struck by a car. Knowing that it would most certainly be struck again, we immediately stopped and gathered it up. After our third attempt to get help, we were able to leave him in professional care. Unfortunately, the little guy didn’t make it, as he passed away shortly after being sedated. We took comfort knowing that at least he didn’t die alone and in terrible pain. With that, we should all respect and value life, all life, because you never really know when or if something will take a bad turn. Anyway, til next time, we hope you spend this week doing wonderful things in your life and in the lives of others! Peace and God Bless!

As a precaution, we are slowly ramping up our meal counts. Currently we are serving hot cinnamon oatmeal with raisins, a boiled egg, a granola bar or graham crackers, a banana, and a bottled water. In addition we also provide toiletries upon request, and take requests for items to be given out on an individual basis, during our lunch program runs on the following Saturday. We have tried to get some ideas from our friends as to what they might prefer in lieu of the oatmeal, but the oatmeal seems to be the consensus favorite. Today, 07/13/2920, we attempted to roll out a second option of breakfast burritos, but couldn’t agree on the portions, so we will try with samples first, and starting next week. Til then we will be out this coming Saturday for our Sack Lunch Program, where we will be systematically signing people up to receive a refillable backpack of basic needs items, and much more. So we will update you on next Tuesday with the verdict on breakfast burritos. In the end it’s all about building relationships, do we can help and inspire our friends to rebuild their lives.
