Well it’s been an amazing adventure this past year, and what fitting end to it for our project. On a whim, we took a quick vote Saturday morning before our sack lunch program run, and decided that we would go out with oatmeal breakfasts and hot cocoa today, in addition to blankets and other extras. Now this was a multifaceted decision. First, we wanted to do something just because it would be nice on a cold day! Surprising our friends with a hot breakfast, along with fruit, waters, and most importantly hot cocoa, was a well received gesture by our friends. 😝 In addition to just being an act of kindness, it was also the fulfillment of a project goal. Initially, the idea of the project was to see where this would lead us, and by mid January of this year, we reached a total 1000+ meals, including sack lunches, homemade meals, hot and cold cereal breakfasts, and family packages all served throughout the Vallejo area. Well after that, we decided to see if we could reach 10,000 meals, and if so when? Well it’s my bittersweet honor to say that we reached that goal, and today loaded up with 95 hot oatmeal breakfasts, we surpassed 10,000 meals served, bringing our grand total to 10,030 meals served throughout the Vallejo area. (We lost to oatmeal cups due to damage during transport 😐) We are determined to help those who want to help themselves, and those who no longer can!! Now that we know we can do it, it’s time to look towards 2019!! We will be taking a break to recoup, regroup, and get everything ready for our new program, starting Saturday 1/5/2019!! We have signed up 117 people, and we can’t wait to get it started. We will provide more in depth details, including the name of our program, next year prior to it’s official launch in a post on 1/3/2019!! 👍🏾 Now for a feel good moment. People often wonder what we do, or what’s the point. Well I’ll give you an example of the power of relationship building. Saturday while we were out serving sack lunches, we met a young Native American man at the library, who we will call “Vern”. Well as he accepted our offer of lunch and toiletries, he began to speak with one of our wonderful team members and awesome secretary, Melissa, who also happens to be Native American. Long story short, he found himself not working, and alone, having been abandoned by his partner. Now we will always try to reach out on behalf others , by trying to connect people with resources, we might otherwise not have. So it’s our pleasure to say that, thanks to Melissa taking the mantle on this one, that young man, “Vern”, is on a bus heading back home this very minute! “Thank you, secret Santa!!” 🙏🏾 That’s why it’s important for groups to work together, just ask “Vern”! The day will come when we won’t have to outsource that type of help, but thank God for the groups that can and are doing it right now! So that’s just some of what our organization tries to do, and will continue to whenever possible!! ✊🏾✊🏼✊🏻 Anyway FB FAM, it’s been a wonderful year of service, and we couldn’t be more excited about the prospect of growing better and stronger, all with the goal of “EMPOWERING OTHERS TO EMPOWER THEMSELVES!!” See you all on January 5, 2019 in the streets of Vallejo, but until then we urge you to do the following things. Don’t forget to tell the ones you love that you love them, before you can’t! Always remember to be kind to others!! Know your value!!! Peace, and May God continue to Bless Us All!!✌🏾🙏🏾 P.S. HAPPY HOLIDAYS, MERRY XMAS, & HAPPY NEW YEARS!!! Thank you to everyone who helped us get through 2018!! We look forward to working together in 2019!! See y’all next year!!❤️💚🖤💛 P.S.S. Liking us is lovely, but sharing is caring, so help us spread the word!!! 🤞🏾 “SOMETIMES GOD BLESSES OTHERS THROUGH US!!” 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 Always fight the power and vote!! ✊🏾✊🏼✊🏻🇺🇸 #ONELOVE❤️✊🏾🖤✊🏼💚✊🏻💛 424EVR 🎅🏿
